My name is Mrs Judge. I am your School Lay Chaplain.
What is a Lay Chaplain?

Some people think that a Chaplain is a Priest or a Nun and that can be true, but there are many who, like me, are committed Christians who work as Lay Chaplains in Schools.

At Canon Palmer School we are very lucky to have many Priests from local parishes who come into our School frequently. They celebrate Mass with us and give us the opportunity to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We keep in close contact with our Priests and share news and information through the parish and School newsletters.

Everything we do stems from our Christian faith. It is my job to help that faith to find its place in all areas of School life. All of the adults in the school support the pupils in their spiritual growth, and it is my job to support them in doing this.

We welcome pupils and staff of all faiths into our community – embracing them and the way they enrich our school/community.

One of my tasks is to get to know as many pupils and staff as possible. I am in the Chapel every break time and lunchtime, except Wednesdays.

Pupils can also find me in my room, next to Palmer 8. Alternatively, a message can be left for me in my box in Palmer Office.

Pupils and staff are welcome to contact me for a general chat or if they have something troubling them. Information about Chapel Life can be found in ‘Welcome to Canon Palmer Chapel’.
