Re: School Fund 2009/2010
Dear Parents / Guardians,
As you can see by the title of the letter, I am writing to you with regards my annual request for School Fund donations for this current academic year. This is always an embarrassing request, but one that, nonetheless, I must make. We have already received a tremendous return from those parents of students in Years 7, 12 and 13 and once again the contribution request has been kept to £60 per family.
Every time I write this letter to you I think of the song “Perfect World”, but of course we realise this is not the case. In order to provide the very best for our children, the school needs to ask for that little bit of extra help. I am constantly humbled by the overwhelming support I receive from you and this has been reflected in the school’s development and success over the past years.
I feel it is important that we continue this most important tradition, established by you the parents/guardians, of providing the best, not only for our children now, but for the children that will follow – just as those who have been before have provided for the children currently attending Canon Palmer Catholic School.
You will by now have seen the transformation that has taken place in Heenan House. This was the project that totaled £1.2 million and it has provided:
- The complete external re-cladding of all of Heenan House. This has given the pupils light and airy, energy efficient classrooms.
- A completely new Administration Suite
- A new Graphics / Textiles room, with new technologies
- A further two new “state of the art” ICT rooms housed in our new ICT suite
- A new modern Mathematics classroom equipped with interactive whiteboards etc.
As always, there remains much to be done and I am putting together plans and bids in order to.
- a) complete the internal refurbishment of the Upper Floor of Heenan House to provide an additional classroom, a completely refurbished and modernised Food Technology room and a modern Art Suite comprising of art-rooms, storerooms etc., and
- b) to internally refurbish Kolbe House, to provide more spacious “state of the art” classrooms with modern technologies
As always, there is roofing work to be completed, that is necessary to ensure that the internal fabric of the school does not deteriorate.
As you will know, as a Voluntary Aided school the Governors have to pay the first 10% of all works. They work very hard to ensure that they receive as much revenue as possible from letting's of school halls and donations from our feeder parishes. However, this does not raise enough to fund all the works we wish to achieve. Your donations are vital.
Gift Aid
Many of you are aware either through your Parish or other donations of how Gift Aid works. Simply – if you are a tax payer and complete (and return) the attached Gift Aid forms for every £1 you donate the school will receive an extra 20p from the Inland Revenue. Therefore, should you contribute £60 and complete the Gift Aid Form; the school can claim a further £12.00 from the Inland Revenue. This will make a total contribution of £72.00, at no extra cost to you. It really is worthwhile.
Contributions should be made, preferably by cheque, payable to “Canon Palmer Catholic School – School Fund”.
I would be grateful if you could complete the reply slip (see download below), along with your Gift Aid Form (if applicable) and return it to me at the school.
.
I have always said that if you are in a position to be able to give more, I would be eternally grateful and if you can afford less then, as always, I will still be eternally grateful. I hope you are in a position to respond in the very generous way that you always do. It would be most helpful if contributions could be returned to me by Friday 11th December.
With kindest regards
Yours sincerely,
F. Maguire
Headmaster.
